After deciding to retire in May, Celtic’s first-choice custodian from the previous campaign, Joe Hart, Brendan Rodgers’ team, began searching for a replacement this summer.

Should a report from Tipsbladet be believed, the Scottish champions’ search for a new player will soon come to an end as Celtic are expected to sign Denmark international Kasper Schmeichel, whose contract at Anderlecht expired on June 30. The report suggests the two parties have reached an agreement for a one-year contract.

According to the source, the 37-year-old is scheduled to undergo medical testing with Brendan Rodgers’ team “this weekend” because the procedure to bring him to Celtic Park is “very close.”
With Al-Shabab Club of Saudi Arabia showing interest, the stopper had the chance to prolong his stay at Anderlecht. After they entered the picture, Tipsbladet claims he “chosen to prioritise” Celtic over these two clubs.

Schmeichel will rejoin with the Celtic boss in Glasgow; the two are acquainted from their time together at Leicester City. This may have been among the factors that made him want to relocate to Celtic Park.

The former Leicester City player competed for Denmark in the 2024 European Championship.
