According to sources who spoke to Football Insider, Celtic are unlikely to be able to compete with teams like West Ham for Panathinaikos forward Fotis Ioannidis.

On Monday, 15 April, Football Insider reported that West Ham had made an early approach regarding a summer move for the 24-year-old.

Although the Hoops are interested in the Greece international as well, they probably won’t be able to afford his services this summer.

Football Insider has learned from a reliable source that Celtic is unable to compete with Premier League teams like West Ham, who are seeking to pay approximately £17 million for a player.

Ioannidis, who has been playing exceptionally well for the Greek team Panathinaikos this season, will also be able to accept a pay increase from the Irons.

In 40 games in all competitions in the 2023–24 season, he has recorded 21 goals and 8 assists, including five in six in the Europa League.
With ten Greece caps under his belt, the 24-year-old has scored twice. His deal with Panathinaikos runs until June 2027.

The goal of Celtic’s January loan of Adam Idah, a striker for Norwich, was to increase their alternatives up front and defeat Rangers to win the Scottish Premiership.

Idah has played in 12 games for the Hoops, with seven goals and two assists. In February, Football Insider reported that Idah might be open to moving permanently to Parkhead.

After Rangers’ defeat at the hands of Ross County on Sunday, April 14, putting them four points behind their Old Firm opponents, Brendan Rodgers’ team regains control of the title.

In other news, following a £20 million development, Celtic suffered a “huge” transfer blow.
