Celtic have been affected by the ongoing global IT outage that is disrupting many operating systems around the world across a wide variety of industries.

In what is a developing story, airlines, banks, ticketing sites, supermarkets and medical practices are just some of the areas in society influenced by today’s events [BBC News].

Numerous societal segments have virtually come to a standstill, and it is uncertain when these problems will be rectified or when things will resume as usual.

Despite the unusual nature of seeing this on a Celtic site, the club have now announced communication that the news has also impacted them.

Celtic announce ticket sales postponement

Earlier today, Celtic announced on their ticketing platform X account that they have had to postpone the sale of briefs for the Bhoys’ Flag Day match against Kilmarnock on the opening day of the Scottish Premiership campaign.

Supporters keen to buy season tickets for the Celtic Women’s team have also been affected, with third-party Ticketmaster caught up in developments.

In different segments, the Celtic FC Tickets account stated: “IMPORTANT UPDATE. Due to a global third-party system outage, some online services, including our ticketing platform are experiencing disruption today.

“We are monitoring the situation closely but as a result we have postponed today’s online sale of tickets for the opening fixture of the 2024/25 season. Please note the ability to buy Celtic FC Women’s Season Tickets is also impacted.

“We will update supporters in due course, apologies for any inconvenience caused.”

With the club set to update fans in due course, hopefully, sales can return to normal before too long amid difficulties this morning.

It is unclear how long these issues may remain. 67 Hail Hail will update fans of further developments as soon as information becomes available.
