The final stretch will excite Celtic supporters as Brendan Rodgers tries to guarantee his team has a great season at Parkhead.

Rangers’ in-form performance last night in a 0-0 draw away to Dundee prevented them from closing the gap to one point, leaving it at three going into the post-split games.

With last weekend’s loss against Ross County, Philippe Clement’s team has now lost nine games in the Scottish Premiership, matching Celtic’s total from 33 league games.

However, the key difference that accounts for their edge at the top is that they have lost six games and drew three, while Rodgers’ team has lost three and achieved six stalemates.

During Ange Postecoglou’s time at the club, goal differential was crucial in reducing pressure, and the Bhoys have a five-goal advantage over Rangers. This may almost be equivalent to an extra point if they can keep that gap between them and their opponents.

There is a tangible air of excitement in Glasgow’s east end as Celtic prepares for Scottish Cup semi-final action this weekend, with the possibility of a domestic double hanging over them.

Charlie Mulgrew on the recent success of Celtic

Our renewed confidence is undoubtedly a result of Rangers’ poor recent performance, but Celtic has only lost once in their last 18 games—a strong comeback that hasn’t received much public attention.

Reo Hatate, Callum McGregor, and Cameron Carter-Vickers have all just made their much-anticipated comebacks to the first squad, adding star quality to a team that hasn’t always had a wealth of depth available this season.

Former Celtic defender Charlie Mulgrew feels his team is “peaking” at the proper time in light of recent events, which have been sparked by the return of their key trio. Mulgrew made this statement ahead of our Scottish Cup semi-final matchup against Aberdeen.

“Hate looks like he’s peaking and coming good at the right time,” he said, as reported by BBC Sport. With their two wingers and midfield, they appear to have a settled team.

“Callum McGregor, a key player for them, is returning healthy at a perfect moment, and Carter-Vickers appears to be past his injury issues.

“They’re peaking at the right time, it’s fair to say, because they’re in great form too.”

Despite recent developments, Celtic are aware that nothing has been won.

As we have seen this past week, titles aren’t won with games in hand, but they also can’t be won with a three-point difference between first and second place, so as we approach the final five league games, there is no space for complacency.

Despite events elsewhere, Celtic must be merciless in the final stretch, as the season has seen rapid changes in the team’s composition.

We can’t take anything for granted because we were eight points ahead at one point and five points behind a few months later.
