Sutton insists the title race is far from over as the Hoops are far from perfect
Before the final five games of the season, the Hoops lead the Premiership by three points. They will face Rangers in the season’s final derby, a match they have won all year. In their previous two games, the Ibrox men have collapsed, picking up only one point from matches when they should have picked up six, against Dundee and Ross County.
They couldn’t really claim they deserved anything more after their performance in those games, and most now see Brendan Rodgers’ team as the clear favourites to win the league trophy. Sutton, the Celtics hero, isn’t nearly as sure, though, and believes there might be more twists and turns.
He sees a weakness in his old side in the wide areas and also has concerns over their inability to turn in a 90-minute performance.
Celtic is a side that has played in halves this season and there are still problems in the wide spaces. Similar to last weekend’s matchup with St Mirren, it took some effort to get the first goal against a team that was playing deep until they did.
Ibrox appears to be collapsing, much to the satisfaction of Celtic supporters, but their players need to forget about it all and focus on their own game.”
