It has been reported that Brendan Rodgers wants to bolster his team at position five during the summer transfer window.

The Irishman watched as his team won the Scottish Cup and Premiership, completing a double. However, it wasn’t a smooth season, and one area that was regretted was recruitment, requiring some cunning actions in the summer.

The Daily Mail claims that the Celtic manager wants to improve five areas of the pitch: attack, midfield, left back, central defence and keeper. With Joe Hart’s retirement, the team needs a new number one, and Greg Taylor is the lone veteran left-back.

New center-half acquisitions like Gustaf Lagerbielke and Maik Nawrocki haven’t been able to establish a consistent presence. After Paulo Bernardo’s loan from Benfica, Rodgers wants to sign Paulo Bernardo permanently. He also wants to sign Adam Idah, a striker, after the player had a significant impression while on loan from Norwich City.

Rodgers is thought to be thinking of Bournemouth’s Chris Mepham at the back. The same article indicates that Lagerbielke is “expected to go” during the summer, so there may also be exits. Since moving from Elfsborg to the summer of last year, he hasn’t been featured on mjuch. In January, he witnessed a relocation to Italy fall through.

Legia Warsaw, Nawrocki’s former team, is rumoured to have attempted to sign him back on loan, but the defender declined. Another defender on the periphery of Parkhead with an uncertain future is Yuki Kobayashi.
