In Game 5 at TD Garden on Monday night, Jayson Tatum helped the Boston Celtics defeat the Dallas Mavericks and win an NBA championship.

The premier player for the Celtics is now set to get a contract extension.

Tatum is qualified for a $315 million super-max extension over five years, and NBA source Shams Charania predicts that the 26-year-old and the Celtics will finalize the agreement after a title parade and celebration in Miami.

On “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday, Charania stated, “I would expect some point after that Jayson Tatum, his agent, the Celtics get down to brass tacks.” “Does he truly have a player option at this point? Which ones are the kickers? Which bonuses are there?”

The Celtics will be linked to Tatum and Brown for over $600 million as a result of inking Tatum to this enormous contract. In August, Boston also awarded Kris taps Porzingis a two-year contract costing roughly $60 million. At the conclusion of the regular season, Jrue Holiday received a four-year contract worth $135 million from Boston. Derrick White is also expected to receive a large contract extension this summer, likely in the four-year, $125 million range.

“It is expensive to keep these teams together,” Charania remarked. “The clubs that will ultimately pay the most luxury tax next season include the Celtics. They have the strongest starting lineup in the NBA, and they will also have the most costly lineup.

As long as it results in a championship, Wyc Grousbeck and the other members of the Celtics ownership group won’t mind paying that expense.
