Police statement as one dies after train crash hit

All three emergency services rushed to the scene

All trains between Sheffield and Nottingham have been suspended following the tragic death of a person struck by a train near Chesterfield.

At 10.30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, British Transport Police were summoned to the tracks near Chesterfield train station in response to reports of a casualty on the lines.

After being called to the location, the victim was tragically declared deceased and attended by police, paramedics, and firefighters.

Following the unfortunate incident, delays are still occurring for rail services from Sheffield. Northern Rail has issued a warning to passengers about the continued disruption following the cancellation of trains between Sheffield and Derby and Sheffield and Nottingham.
