Rochdale manager Jimmy McNulty was a little disappointed his side did not beat Chesterfield.

Dale ended their four-game losing streak and earned a point in the second half after falling behind 2-0.

With ten minutes left, the visitors, who had the better chances in the first half, were tied at two goals each, thanks to goals from Tom Naylor and Will Grigg for Town’s 2-0 lead.

Rochdale’s status beyond March is uncertain, therefore it has been a difficult week for the team off the pitch. For this reason, McNulty was happy to see his players have a positive outlook.

Even though we only scored one point here today, we believe we might have won. It seemed to us like a fairly strong performance.

We had some excellent chances, so we were certainly frustrated that we weren’t ahead at the break. Even though Chesterfield put some pressure on us, we still looked dangerous and confident, which is to be anticipated given that they are the upcoming champions.

We gave up two goals from extremely insignificant set-piece situations. Chesterfield has scored so many goals from set pieces this season that I feel bad for the squad. I wasn’t shocked by the pitch’s side.

Rochdale is now just four points above the relegation zone in 13th place as a result of the outcome.

We could have easily given up at 2-0 down here, but we pulled off an incredible comeback,” McNulty continued.

We’ll probably be upset that we lost when everything settles down.
