Finbarr Coleman, 40, is the man who was identified locally as the victim of an automobile accident in Cork.

On Saturday, July 27, just after 1.30 am, a single vehicle crashed in Ballynamona, Kinsale, County Cork.

Mr Coleman was a passenger in the car and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver, a man in his 30s, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of offences under the Road Traffic Act but Gardaí later confirmed he was released without charge.

Mr Coleman’s death notice reads that he was the “beloved son of the late Dan and Teresa, dear brother of Brendan, Bernard, Arthur and Anthony.”

The notice added that he will be “sadly missed by his loving brothers, sister-in-law Fiona, adored niece and best friend Katie C, Brendan’s partner Imelda, extended family, neighbours and his large circle of friends.”

It is understood Mr Coleman was a well-known building contractor and a big sports fanatic, known for attending various sporting events in the local area.

One of the condolences read: “Finny was an amazing man who always had a smile on his face, and will be sorely missed by many.”

Another said: “Deepest condolences to all of the Coleman family, Finbarr was nothing only a gentleman and will be sorely missed. RIP Finny.”

No funeral arrangements have been announced at this time.

In a statement to JOE on Sunday morning, a Garda spokesperson said: “Investigating Gardaí continue to appeal for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were traveling in the Ballynamona area between 1:15am and 1:45am are asked to make it available to Gardaí.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact the incident room at Bandon Garda Station on 023 885 2200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
