Coventry City Striker Linked With Premier League Giants

The former Coventry City player has been in incredible form since joining the Portuguese giants, scoring 36 goals in all competitions.

Gyokeres also scored for Sweden during the international break, his sixth goal in 20 appearances. The Lisbon club has chosen to cash in on the goalscorer they paid Sky Blues a staggering £20 million for.

According to the source, Arsenal has Gyokeres on a 10-man shortlist as they try to buy a big striker, while Chelsea has already watched him three times.

The London club was first linked with an interest in late 2023, and they have since been joined by the list of interested parties by seven-time European champions AC Milan.

This interest has prompted Sporting to establish a £68.5 million asking price for the former Brighton and Hove Albion striker. According to the article, Coventry are about to cash in again on a striker they paid the Seagulls around £1 million for, according to a 15% sell-on option.

The striker is not concerned about his future, telling Swedish media source Fotbollskanalen,  It’s an indication that I’ve played well. But I don’t take it too seriously because it’s just supposition. But, of course, it is enjoyable.

We will see this summer. I don’t know what will happen to me. I thoroughly enjoy sports and am not concerned about the approaching summer.

The Lions presently have a one-point lead over rivals Benfica at the top of the Primeira Liga, with a game in hand in their quest for a 20th Portuguese crown.

Writer’s perspective.

Gyokeres struck the ground running in Portugal and has sustained his great form, propelling Sporting to the league’s top spot as the season nears its end.

It’s unclear whether either of the English sides will be willing to pay the asking fee, especially Chelsea, who appear to be out of European football for next season.

The Sweden international’s transfer may be important for Coventry City, who, if the 15% sell-on clause is believed, could receive a roughly £10 million payday to increase their purchasing capacity for next season.
