After apprehending a shoplifting gang, Redditch police officers returned stolen merchandise from local stores.

After a successful partnership, Sergeant David Roberts and PC Mike Moore of the Redditch Safer Neighbourhood Team returned the products to Boots staff in the Kingfisher Centre.

Four persons were arrested and pleaded guilty to shoplifting charges last week after hundreds of products valued at thousands of pounds were stolen over several weeks.

Sunita Buzatu, 37, of Signet Square in Coventry, pleaded guilty to three counts of retail theft on April 13.

Alexandru Patru, 19, of Signet Square, Coventry, and Matrix Sulejmanovic, 19, of Signet Square, Coventry, both admitted to two acts of theft, while Ionel Vilceanu, 44, of Signet Square, Coventry, pleaded guilty to four counts of shop theft.

All were bailed to an address on Bell Green Road in Coventry, with restrictions including not entering Worcestershire, while pre-sentence reports are prepared for a hearing at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court on May 13.

Sergeant David Roberts of Redditch Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) said: “This is an excellent example of collaboration between the police, retailers, and Kingfisher Centre staff that resulted in the arrest of this stealing gang.

“We will continue to work together to reduce the impact of shop theft on stores for both staff and customers.”
