After undergoing scans yesterday and speaking with experts earlier today, Sharks halfback Nicho Hynes will likely need to miss a significant amount of time.

Hynes sustained an ankle injury during Monday’s Sharks practice at PointsBet Stadium.

Sharks Head of Performance Nathan Pickworth stated, “It has been confirmed that Nicho has a complete syndesmosis rupture, plus a tibia fracture to his left ankle.” “He is scheduled to have surgery on Wednesday and should be back on the pitch in around eight weeks.

With a team to play the Wests Tigers to be announced later today, it is expected that the versatile Daniel Atkinson will be in line to replace Hynes in the Sharks halves.

In other injury news, Sharks forward Jack Williams is likely to be unavailable for the game on Friday night with a wrist sprain, while young NRL squad members Kade Dykes and Max Bradbury have been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to knee injuries.
