Excitement as Glasner reveal’s his extra ordinary first game in Palace.

LONDON (AP) — In the Premier League on Saturday, Crystal Palace defeated 10-man Burnley 3-0 in Oliver Glasner’s debut game as manager.

The relegation-threatened hosts controlled the first half, but Josh Brownhill’s sending off in the 38th minute did not change the score at halftime.

With a header in the 68th minute, Chris Richards broke the scoreless draw at Selhurst Park, scoring his first Premier League goal and first club goal since December 2021 for Hoffenheim at Freiburg in Germany.

Three minutes later, Jordan Ayew doubled the Eagles’ lead, and Jean-Philippe Mateta’s penalty sealed the victory.

Burnley’s last-minute consolation was ruled off, adding insult to injury on an otherwise miserable afternoon that saw Palace move eight points clear of the relegation zone.

After the Eagles drew 1-1 with Everton, Glasner, who was designated Roy Hodgson’s replacement on Monday, started with the same lineup and 3-4-2-1 system.

When Jefferson Lerma pounced on a poor ball from goalkeeper James Trafford, Burnley was reduced to 10 men. Brownhill, under pressure, replied by bringing the Palace midfielder down by the back of his jersey, earning an immediate red card.
