After being partially closed Monday owing to a fuel spill, the Dartford Tunnel reopened in the early hours of the morning.
At around 06:30 BST on Monday, National Highways announced on X that the Dartford East tunnel would have to be closed all day.
It stated that following the incident involving a maintenance truck, around 400 meters of the road needed to be resurfaced.
Shortly after 03:35 on Tuesday, a National Highways representative reported that the tunnel was fully reopened.
One of the two 0.8-mile (1.4-kilometer) tunnels that the northbound carriageway passes through was still open on Monday.
The crossing links the counties of Essex and Kent via the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge for southbound traffic and two 1.4km-long tunnels for northbound journeys.
Up to 180,000 vehicles use the crossing in both directions each day, National Highways said.
