One Derby County player was ‘outstanding’ against Leyton Orient, despite only making nine passes.

Derby County hosted Leyton Orient yesterday under a lot of pressure.

Portsmouth were in with a chance of winning the League One title as they headed to Bolton Wanderers, while their opponents could have jumped the Rams into the automatic promotion spots if they had won all three games.

Derby, on the other hand, held their composure and defeated Leyton Orient 3-0, with Bolton and Portsmouth each earning a point.

Paul Warne’s side is now four points ahead of Bolton, although their opponents still have a game in hand tomorrow evening.

Derby put on a very comfortable performance, limiting the Os to zero shots on target at Pride Park.

Sonny Bradley will get the credit for his brace, but Louie Sibley also had a significant impact.

The 22-year-old started at wing-back yesterday, and while he only made nine correct passes in 90 minutes, his performance elsewhere was ‘outstanding’.

Sibley recorded his fourth assist in all competitions, made four important passes, completed four crosses, had two shoots, two successful dribbles, and four tackles.

Following full-time, Derbyshire Live gave Sibley an 8.5 grade for his performance. Journalist Leigh Curtis stated, “Had a fantastic game as a wing-back. Wasn’t scared to drive forward and challenge players. I delivered a precise corner for the second goal and had a good afternoon. “He could have scored himself.”

Louie Sibley has played in five different positions for Derby County this season, and despite past criticism, he has worked really hard in the later portions of the season.

He has played wherever needed and has had a significant impact on numerous critical results, including a brace against Port Vale and the only goal of the game against Stevenage.

His growth from his earlier promising days at Pride Park has obviously stalled, but he appears to be bursting with confidence at the moment and may play a significant role in the club’s aspirations of promotion.

Whether he stays in the Midlands is another issue, but he will understand that he needs to work for it, which will only benefit the Rams in the coming weeks.
