Everything is set up for the Lions to satisfy the NFC once more in 2024, at least on paper. However, a recent story claims that one of their former players left early on Sunday morning, and it wasn’t for the better.
Former Detroit Lions TE Brandon Pettigrew Arrested In Dallas After Violent Altercation At Store
After getting into a fight with police inside a convenience shop in Texas, former Lions tight end Brandon Pettigrew assaulted and broke a glass door, spending a portion of his Sunday morning behind bars.
TMZ Sports has learnt that the incident occurred at a 7-Eleven in Dallas on Sunday morning at around two in the morning. According to the authorities, Pettigrew became combative after a dispute inside the store.
Although the actual cause of the altercation is unknown, surveillance footage shows that Pettigrew, the former tight end for the Detroit Lions, threw a right hook at the front door, shattering it, following a verbal altercation with multiple individuals.
Officers are seen using tasers right away, but luckily the situation didn’t get out of hand. It appears that the 6-foot-5 Pettigrew was then taken into custody without any more problems.
According to a Dallas Police Department representative, the 39-year-old was eventually taken to the Dallas County Jail where he was charged with criminal mischief. According to records, he was freed from detention on Sunday at around 1:00 PM.
The former pass catcher for the Detroit Lions has into afoul of the law before. He was charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication in 2017 after being taken into custody for his claimed involvement in an altercation at a Texas club.
On July 9, 2018, Pettigrew was taken into custody in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on suspicion of aggravated violence following a quarrel over an outstanding limousine charge. The allegations of aggravated assault and diversion of services were dropped in November 2018.
Pettigrew played his entire eight-year NFL career in Detroit, where he currently holds records for the team, after the Lions selected him with the 20th overall choice in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-5 pass-catching tight end, who also excelled in the blocking game, was a standout player at Oklahoma State before joining the NFL. He eventually became one of the new breed of versatile players at the position, which is widespread in the modern NFL.
He had his greatest years in 2010 and 2011.
He hauled in 71 passes for 722 yards and four touchdowns in 2010. His 722 receiving yards and 71 receptions were third among tight ends. He had the highest receiving yards of any Detroit Lions tight end in any season with 83 receptions for 777 yards and five touchdowns during the 2011 campaign. With 83 receptions in 2011, he also owns the franchise record for tight ends with the Detroit Lions.
