It is thought that a house invasion that occurred a few blocks away is connected to the body of a man that was found on a suburban Melbourne street.
The victim, who has not yet been publicly identified, was discovered at approximately 5.30am on Eildon St. in Doncaster, in the northeast region of Melbourne, and passed away there.
No arrests have been made despite the Homicide Squad investigators conducting an investigation into the incident and withholding the man’s cause of death.
Inspector Carrie Kohler gave the reporters an update on Saturday, stating that police think the man was the victim of an aggravated burglary that happened earlier in the morning.
Before being found, it is believed that this man was the victim of an aggravated burglary on Sargent St., Doncaster, the spokesperson stated.
The distance between Sargent St. and the location of the man’s body was roughly 500 metres.
Inspector Kohler attempted to allay community fears by characterising the incident as a “tragic set of circumstances.”
“I wanted to reassure the public that we have increased our patrols and our presence within the community and we will continue to do so,” the local police manager stated.
“Not only are the victim and his family and friends in our thoughts, but our community as a whole. We will continue to support our community during this terrible time.”
The man’s body was discovered on Saturday, and a SES tent had been erected there, while police and sniffing dogs were observed policing the surrounding streets.
It is recommended that witnesses and those with information get in touch with Crime Stoppers.
