Last Thursday, July 18, at approximately 12:45 p.m., a call was sent by the owner of a commercial truck in Doncaster, informing that their car had just been taken from their Thorne driveway.
When the Doncaster East Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) officers reacted, they soon saw the stolen van and another car that was travelling in convoy.
Before the cars were discovered abandoned on a neighbouring caravan park, they were trailed and chased by vigilant officers on the M18.
Numerous tools were found in the victim’s van, and it was later discovered that the second car had also been recently stolen from a North Yorkshire home.
“The stolen vehicles we recovered are currently awaiting forensic examination and we are working hard to find the people responsible for these vehicle thefts and bring them to justice,” Doncaster East NPT Sergeant James Housley stated.
“These vehicles were safely and swiftly recovered by our officers thanks to their instinctive work, which came about just minutes after the theft was reported and following a cautious pursuit down the M18.
The issue of vehicle thefts is still one that we as a force are dedicated to addressing.
“We know it has a profound impact on people’s livelihoods and businesses and we will come after thieves involved in this kind of criminality.”
