Edinburgh police after a catastrophic crash on Wood-hall Road leaves pensioner in critical condition

Following a major traffic incident in Clinton that left an 83-year-old pedestrian hospitalized, Edinburgh police have opened an inquiry.

On Tuesday, June 18, at around 3:45 p.m., a red Vauxhall Corsa was involved in an accident on Woodhall Road near the intersection with Dreghorn Loan. With severe injuries, an 83-year-old woman was brought to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. The Vauxhall’s 47-year-old female driver escaped unharmed.

For several hours, the road was closed so that crash investigations could be conducted. According to the police, investigations are still on to determine the specifics, and they have issued a witness request.

“Our investigation into this crash is ongoing, and I would urge anyone who has information to get in touch,” stated Road Policing Sergeant Fraser Mitchell.

We would be interested in speaking with anyone who saw the red Vauxhall before the incident happened or who observed the crash itself. Please let us know if you have any dash-cam film from the vicinity.

If you have any information, please contact Police Scotland at 101 and mention incident number 2168 from June 18, 2024.
