Police swoop on Edinburgh street after ‘break-in’ with massive arrest

A 41-year-old man has been arrested in charged after a break-in on Annandale Street at around 8.20pm on Wednesday. Officers raced to the scene with locals reporting “lots of police vehicles”.

On Wednesday night, police in Edinburgh hurried to the site of an incident in Leith Walk.

At approximately 8:20 p.m., they got reports of a break-in on Annandale Street. Subsequently, a man aged 41 was taken into custody and accused of being involved.

The road was “partially blocked off” and there were “lots of police vehicles” on the site, according to locals.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.20pm on Wednesday, 24 July, 2024, we received a report of a break-in on Annandale Street, Edinburgh.

“A 41-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
