Manchester United loanee Joe Hugill struggled to make an impact as Burton Albion were beaten by 10-man Exeter City.
Reece Cole, a midfielder for Exeter, gave the team the lead after 41 minutes.
Just before halftime, the referee gave Exeter defender Zak Jules the order to march, giving Burton the edge.
The Brewers had the advantage in numbers in the second half, but they were unable to take advantage of it.
At St James Park, Exeter managed to hold on and secure the victory and all three points.
Hugill played 67 minutes before being substituted out of what was clearly another terrible game. Ademola Ola-Adebomi replaced the United loanee.
Hugill never really made an impact on the game while he was on the pitch, therefore manager Martin Paterson’s decision to alter the starting lineup was not shocking.
There were just 14 ball touches for the United loanee.
With just six pass attempts and four completions, he managed a 67% pass completion rate. A crucial pass was one of them.
Hugill made three attempts at goal in all. While one was off-target, Viljami Sinisalo, Exeter’s custodian, had to step in and stop two of them.
The Carrington Academy alumnus lost a significant opportunity that would have provided his team a way back into the game.
Neither a long ball nor a cross were associated with him.
The 20-year-old was defeated in both of his ground fights. Hugill had to participate in five aerial challenges. He emerged victorious on two occasions.
The attacker misplaced the ball four times.
He made an equal number of interceptions and one clearing.

The star, who was born in Durham, has only scored once for Burton so far, and that came on his League One debut.
The next weekend, when Burton plays Port Vale, he will be looking for much better and improved luck.
