The Club Mascot position requires a joyful, gregarious person who is passionate about amusing people and producing unforgettable experiences.

With an exciting job opening for the Club Mascot, Exeter City Football Club is giving supporters an opportunity to get up close and personal with the action. Lexi the Lion, the club mascot, must be an energetic, fun person who enjoys providing memorable experiences, particularly for the younger audience.

The club is commemorating the Supporters’ Trust’s 20 years of ownership. The next candidate will work closely with the Supporter Experience Officer, representing the team well and interacting with supporters during St. James Park matchdays.

Exceptional nonverbal communication abilities are required of candidates for costumed roles. Making sure everyone who comes to the club has a good time and feels welcome in a secure setting will be their main objective. Lexi the Lion became Grecian the Lion’s companion in 2019.

Sharing on X, “Having performed this role for 16 years before ill health stopped me from doing so, I’d absolutely recommend applying if you love our club and want to give it a go,” said Chris Sumner, who had played Grecian the Lion for 16 years until 2021. I will always cherish the incredible memories I have of those 16 years spent representing our incredible club.”

After portraying Lexi, the current mascot continued, “It’s been a fun ride. But it’s almost time to pass the helm to someone else.”

This is a casual worker position, and the hours will mostly be on Saturdays and Tuesday evenings according to the fixture list, though they may change depending on home fixtures. By Wednesday, March 13, if you would like to apply for this position, please fill out the Application and Equality Monitoring Forms, send your CV and a cover letter to HR, Exeter City Football Club, St James Park, Stadium Way, Exeter, Devon, EX4 6PX, or send an email to hr@ecfc.co.uk.
