The summer transfer window is reportedly attracting Preston North End’s interest in midfielder Reece Cole of Exeter City.
With four games left in their season, Southampton visits St Mary’s for the Lilywhites’ next encounter. Regardless of the division they play in, plans may already be on for the upcoming campaign following the release of a recent transfer rumour.
Cole has a deal with St James Park that runs through the summer of 2025. He came from non-league team Hayes & Yeading last summer; he signed a six-month contract at first, but his play won him a 12-month extension. He made one senior appearance for the Bees after starting his senior playing career with Brentford in 2016. Cole spent time on loan at Yeovil Town, Macclesfield Town, and Newport County in League Two.
In addition, he played for Partick Thistle and Dunfermine Athletic in the Scottish Championship, as well as Maidenhead United in the National League. He was playing for Chertsey Town after being released by Dunfermline, and then he returned to Hayes & Yeading, where he started his career.
This season, the midfielder, who was born in London, has made 40 appearances in all competitions. In 37 league games for the Grecians, he has seven goals and three assists. He can play as an attacking or defensive midfielder, however this season he has mostly played as a centre midfielder for Exeter.
