Man arrested for killing an elderly woman in Exeter park

A 74-year-old woman was attacked in a country park, and a guy has admitted to killing her, although he has denied killing her.

‘A lovely, generous and beautiful person’ is how her family has remembered Lorna England, who passed away on Saturday, February 18, after being attacked in Exeter’s Ludwell Valley Park.

A brief hearing was held at Exeter Crown Court without 30-year-old Cameron Davis of Exeter Road, Exmouth, since he declined to appear in the video booth at Exeter Prison.

Davis is charged with killing retired woman Lorna England, who passed away on Saturday, February 18, from stab wounds sustained after an alleged attack in Exeter’s Ludwell Valley Park.

She didn’t appear to know Davis prior to the incident and resided on Southbrook Road, which is close by.

Judge Simon Carr, who was viewed via video link from Truro Crown Court, scheduled the next hearing for March 23 and the provisional trial date in Exeter for August 14.

The defence attorney, Mr. Joss Ticehurst, declined to request bail and stated that mental health reports would be obtained prior to the following hearing.

On Saturday afternoon, there were claims of an assault in the park, so police were called.

Despite the assistance of emergency services and members of the public, the victim passed away at the scene.
