The centre-back has expressed his want for his side to get back to winning ways this weekend against a tough Stockport County side

Ryan Inniss, a defender for Forest Green Rovers, stated before Friday’s game against Stockport County, “I have said since the gaffer came in the detail we are given is phenomenal.”

Naturally, since Steve Cotterill took over as manager, the team’s performance and fortunes have significantly improved, and Inniss was all praise for the new management.

“I have stated that since the gaffer arrived, the level of detail we receive is amazing,” he remarked. I’ve been playing for ten or eleven years, and this is the level of detail that we get the most of. Therefore, it is our responsibility as players to genuinely put forth our best effort, challenge the competition, and apply those strategies and mindsets to action.”

The weekend’s visitors are in good form having gone unbeaten in their last six games.

The imposing defender commented, “I try not to look too much into the opposition beyond what we are given,” in reference to the opposition. They are a strong team and, given their threats, they will undoubtedly exude confidence.

“They might or might not think less of us, but ultimately, we are focusing on our capabilities, having examined their threats and past performance.

“I’m just focusing on what we can do to start strong, play well, win the three points at home, and give the supporters something to really rally around as we head into the remaining games.”

Despite Louie Barry’s absence, the attacking trio of Paddy Madden, Kyle Wootton, and Isaac Olaofe had scored 35 goals this season as they thrashed MK Dons 5-0 on Saturday.

“I think it would be fairly naïve to not look at your opponents and see what their strengths and weaknesses are, that is something we do as a team and then obviously we get given individual bits to look at,” Inniss said when asked if the defensive team would approach the game any differently knowing the strike force that the Hatters have.

Since Cotterill took over, the Rovers have defeated teams like Barrow, Walsall, and Bradford, establishing themselves as a serious danger to the top teams in the division.

Regarding the danger the Rovers present, Inniss said, “I think we have shown some really good things in some of the teams that we have beaten and the draws we have gotten.”

“It is about building on that; it’s not about taking that and trying to achieve a similar outcome; rather, it’s about recognising the positives from that, learning from the things we didn’t do as well, and simply having the drive to go back and reclaim those victories and that feeling in the dressing room.”

With the addition of seasoned defender Richard Keogh, who has assisted Inniss and Jordan Moore-Taylor in leading the club to more clean sheets, it seems like the Rovers have strengthened their defence.

“We have picked his brain,” Inniss said of Keogh’s signing. “Rich has come in and he has a wealth of experience and played at higher levels.”

“He has been great in helping us work through some tough situations, and he has seen career relegation battles and underachievement as a team. He has been a huge assistance to me as I’ve gotten older and tried harder to lead both on and off the pitch.

It is now crucial that the Rovers start to accumulate points towards safety as the season approaches its last few games.

“They can really get behind the lads and especially at home, they have been great to us, we have had some not so great results, but since the gaffer has come in they have really got behind the lads and I can certainly hear it,” Inniss, who joined the team in the summer, said when he emphasised the importance of the supporters.

We just want to thank them for what they have done so far and ask that they keep with us so that we can continue to support them. My family has attended several games and they have talked about it get over the line and stay in the division, getting the win on Friday would be excellent
