Tozer, a center-back who helped the Reds achieve back-to-back promotions for the first time in the team’s history, moved from Cheltenham Town to The Racecourse in August 2021. However, manager Phil Parkinson let him go at the end of the 2023–24 season.

Long-throw specialist Tozer, 34, made 118 league games and scored six goals during his three years with Wrexham. Now, after Forest Green was relegated to the National League, he will look to help the team return to the Football League the following season.

Tozer spoke on his stay in North Wales for the official Forest Green website: “It was great to be a part of the club during that time and to get promoted back-to-back.”

“I gained a lot of experience playing a good chunk of games for Wrexham and learned a lot while supporting the younger players from the sidelines.”

Tozer, who was runners-up in League Two this season to advance directly to League One, and who assisted Wrexham in winning the National League title after a record-breaking 2022–2023 campaign, explained that he was drawn to signing with Forest Green for a variety of reasons.

“There were quite a few things,” the seasoned defender continued.

In my off-season, I compiled a list of dos and don’ts. What my next move should have been. Of course I want to maintain my current highs, but winning games isn’t the only thing that matters.

“In addition, the manager and his goals and objectives, including the type of locker room and team culture he desires. He was eager to create accommodations for my family and me, as well as for the other players and signings he wants to make.

“There are also off-field plans, such as the construction of a new training facility; everything is connected.”

“As a player and for the team, I hope for a successful season on the pitch. Everyone is aware of how challenging it is to get promoted outside of the National League; we must work hard, and I am eager to get started.”
