The official Gillingham club website has announced that Stephen Clemence has left the team.
As Gillingham get ready for another League Two campaign, they are searching for a new manager in advance of the following one.

After their final-day 2-2 tie with Doncaster Rovers, the Gills finished 12th this season and lost out on the play-offs.

These three applicants are for their open post.

Bonner Mark

Gillingham can choose to use him as he has been available since severing connections with Cambridge United in November. He may be a long-term option for the Kent club, given his age of 38, as they want to contend for a top-four finish the next season.

Bonner understands what it takes to make it to League One, having led the U’s to promotion from the fourth division back in 2021. While he was employed at the Abbey Stadium, he managed 201 games.

The Gareth Ainsworth

During his tenure with Wycombe Wanderers from 2012 until 2023, the fifty-year-old did miracles. Against all odds, he helped the Chairboys win the Championship in 2020.

Ainsworth was fired from QPR last year after his most recent stint as manager didn’t work out. The former Port Vale and Preston winger could believe he has much to prove and that the Gills should give him a chance.

Michael Appleton

The Manchester United player might have to move down to the fourth division for his next position after being fired from his most recent club, Charlton Athletic. The 48-year-old Appleton might view the Gillingham position as an opportunity to return to the game before the upcoming campaign.

He has now held positions at a number of Football League teams, including Oxford United, Blackburn Rovers, Portsmouth, Blackpool, and Lincoln City. He is currently considering his options.
