Four senior players from Gillingham are open to transfers.

Along with fellow frontman Ashley Nadesan, offensive midfielder George Lapslie, and left-back Scott Malone, the club is willing to let go of striker Oli Hawkins.

After joining the Gills in the summer, Nadesan fell out of favour with former manager Stephen Clemence. After Josh Andrews entered the starting lineup, Hawkins’ position on the squad was in jeopardy.

While Malone was a consistent starter off the bench last season, Max Clark was the preferred choice on the left side of defence, and Lapslie played 40 games.

This summer, Mark Bonner, the new manager, will want to bring in his own players, thus room must be made for them.

Eight players, including captain Shaun Williams and scorer Macauley Bonne, who spent the second half of the previous season on loan at Cambridge United, are undoubtedly leaving after their contracts expire.

The club would receive compensation should any team choose to sign 23-year-old midfielder Dom Jefferies, whose contract expires this summer, and veteran keeper Glenn Morris, 40, who was named captain by former manager Neil Harris last summer but saw little action under Clemence. Morris made 14 appearances last season but was replaced as the team’s first choice by Jake Turner.

Young professionals Ike Orji, Matty Macarthur, Ronald Sithole, Josh Chambers, Kieron Agbebi, and young goaltender Nathan Harvey are also departing the team. Those athletes belonged to the B Team division.

Jake Turner, Max Ehmer, Shad Ogie, Conor Masterson, Sam Gale, Alex Giles, Robbie McKenzie, Max Clark, Remeao Hutton, Jonny Williams, Tim Dieng, Ethan Coleman, Jayden Clarke, Joe Gbode, and Josh Andrews are under contract with the Gills and are part of Bonner’s plans for the upcoming season.

Josh Walker, Jorge Hurtado, and Connor Mahoney are the loan players that have returned to their parent clubs. Mahoney has expressed his wish to continue with the previous administration.

“We wish all players the very best for the future,” the club stated in regards to those departing.

Gillingham possesses specifics of which young athletes will receive professional agreements have not yet been confirmed.
