Southeastern services will remain disrupted on Friday, February 23, as a result of a landslip at Newington in Swale.

On Friday, a number of services on the down line to Ramsgate were cancelled, and buses were substituted.

Trains on the route between Rainham and Gillingham stopped operating over the weekend while engineers evaluated the entire situation over Friday night.

Throughout this week and the beginning of next week, the line will be closed as Network Rail works to stabilise the earthworks.
There will be no direct High Speed service to St Pancras and no London-bound service via Gillingham and Faversham. Allow extra time to travel via Ashford and Maidstone to Victoria due to the longer route; however, high speed via Ashford, to Charing Cross, and Victoria are unaffected.

It is anticipated that the impacted line will reopen on Monday, March 4.

The following trains will run on Monday 26 February;

Gillingham via Denmark Hill to London Victoria

London St Pancras International from Rochester

from Sittingbourne to Ramsgate

Priory of Dover to Sittingbourne

With the exception of the morning rush hour, when there will be two trains per hour between Gillingham and London Victoria and Rochester and London St Pancras International, these trains will run hourly.

Not running and alternatives

Today, February 26, there will be no trains running between Ramsgate, Dover, Faversham, and the Medway Towns to London Cannon Street. Southeastern is currently developing a weekly route planner.

You can take alternate routes via Ramsgate or Dover Priory to reach the stations between Westgate-on-Sea and Sittingbourne, then take a different train back to London. As an alternative, you can take buses from London Victoria to Gillingham and transfer to another bus company.

You may use your ticket on the following alternative services at no extra charge:

High-speed services from the southeast via Ashford (if you have a valid high-speed ticket via Faversham or are travelling from stations between Sittingbourne and Ramsgate)

London Tube connects terminal stations in Southeast London.

Thameslink connects Rainham and London St Pancras International.

Fastrack buses that travel from Gravesend to Ebbsfleet International

While the line is closed, there is a limited bus service between Sittingbourne and Gillingham if you must travel and have no other options.

If you are travelling between London and Ramsgate (via Faversham), you can use the following alternative routes:

To link with an alternative bus service between Gillingham and Sittingbourne, use the London Victoria – Gillingham services. Between Sittingbourne and Ramsgate, a special train service is available, calling at all stations.

In order to connect with the aforementioned replacement bus service and special train service to Ramsgate, use the Thameslink services between London St Pancras International and Rainham.

Services run from London Charing Cross to Ramsgate; at Ramsgate, change to catch a train back to Faversham and Sittingbourne.

If you have a valid highspeed ticket via Faversham or are travelling to/from stations between Sittingbourne and Ramsgate, you can take advantage of the highspeed services via Ashford.

If you are travelling between London and Canterbury East / Dover Priory, you can use the following alternative routes:

London Victoria – Gillingham services to connect with a replacement bus service between Gillingham and Sittingbourne. There is a special train service operating between Faversham and Dover Priory calling all stations.
