Police and the Scottish Ambulance Service were seen on the A71 where a fatal crash closed the road for hours.

Following a three-vehicle collision near the Loudoun Golf Club in Ayrshire that closed a road for more than eight hours, a woman had died and a man was in “serious” condition.

The incident involved a white Vauxhall Corsa, a blue Volkswagen Golf convertible, and a green Land Rover Discovery. It occurred on Saturday, July 20 at approximately 5:25 p.m. on the A71 at Galston.

Sadly, the 72-year-old driver of the Golf was declared dead at the spot despite the fact that emergency personnel raced to the scene.

The driver of the Corsa, a 37-year-old man, was brought to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital by police, and according to them, his condition is serious but stable.

Around 1.30 am on Sunday, the road was reopened and no other injuries were reported.

“Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who died, and inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances,” stated Sergeant Andrew Coutts.

We are requesting that anyone who witnessed what transpired get in contact. Similarly, get in touch with police if you have dashcam evidence that can help with our inquiry.
