Three pedestrians and four other individuals died in an early Saturday morning horrific crash in Hamilton, according to the police.
Before two in the morning, there was a crash along Main Street East and King Street East.
According to Hamilton police, a driver lost control of a stolen 2004 Toyota Prius while travelling at a fast pace on Main Street East in the direction of King Street East.
The car then slid up the curb, ran over three men walking on the sidewalk, and crashed into a concrete hydro pole, according to the police. The male driver was inside the automobile when it took fire.
All three pedestrians and the driver were pronounced dead. Police have not released their identities as next of kin are still being notified.
A fifth person suffered minor injuries after being hit by debris from the crash, police said.
The cause of the crash is not yet known, and police said “impairment has not yet been ruled out as a factor.
