A talent who has excelled in the Premiership this season has seen a transfer to Hearts.
The manager of Motherwell, Stuart Kettlewell, is fully aware of Hearts’ summer move for playmaker Blair Spittal.

Following a fantastic season in claret and amber, the 28-year-old has been named the Steelmen’s Players’ Player of the Year as well as the Coaches Player of the Year. On Saturday, he added two goals and an assist to his total as Motherwell defeated Ross County 5-1.

This brings his season total to 13 goals and 11 assists. In addition to Yan Dhanda of the County and James Penrice of Livingston, Spittal has agreed to a pre-contract to transfer to Tynecastle come summertime. Head coach of Hearts Steven Naismith has taken steps to add Premiership-caliber players to his roster in anticipation of the upcoming Europa League or Europa Conference League football season.

Kettlewell is all praise for the player, who this week plays his final two games for Motherwell against St Johnstone and Hibs. He knows exactly why Hearts are interested in this player, whom he considers to be among the best playmakers in the Scottish Premiership.

“It’s never a problem when you know the man’s character,” he stated. No matter what kind of work you do, you usually seize the opportunity to go to a bigger club and make more money.

You wouldn’t have seen him again if I had thought it would be a problem, but I never for a moment believed it would be a problem. Blair Spittal has been playing amazing shows, so I can see why a team like Hearts would want to try and recruit him.

“He’s probably at the top of this division if you talk about those classic attacking midfield players.”
