Hero departs club amid Horsham offer

Tom Kavanagh, a midfielder, is the most recent Hornet to depart the team this summer, as we can disclose.

After joining Horsham from Kingstonian in 2021, Kavs amassed 106 games and 19 goals while wearing the Horsham uniform. He will be most fondly remembered for his set-piece expertise, but he also played a crucial role in our team’s journey to the Emirates FA Cup first round in his rookie season.

Horsham secured a home tie in the fourth qualifying round after a dramatic late equaliser against his former team forced a second qualifying round replay. His incredible winning free kick against Woking set up our historic trip to Carlisle United and won him Goal of the Season.

“I would like to thank the volunteers, the fans, and the club in general for the past three years; you really made me feel at home,” Tom stated in a statement on X, formerly Twitter. Fantastic group that is headed on the correct path. I hope the best for you!”

Manager Dom Di Paola was also quick to commend the departing midfield player, saying, “He had so many key games for us over the years, especially that game against Woking and especially on that run for the FA Cup.” His contribution to the run to the first round was enormous.

“A truly exceptional player, and we hope the best for him in the future.”
