For Moore, a former manager of West Brom, Doncaster Rovers, Huddersfield Town, and Sheffield Wednesday, things are not looking bright at the moment.

The 49-year-old witnessed his team’s 2-0 home loss to promotion-chasing Oxford United last weekend, and as a result, Port Vale is now the only team in League One without a victory after Moore’s eight previous games with the Club.

Their winless streak dates back to 2023; they last won at home against Blackpool in the final game of the previous season, but they have lost their last 14 games and have only collected four points from those encounters.

Moore has therefore had quite the rollercoaster of a year.

However, he has five more years left on his Vale deal after this season, so he may have been given the security he needs to develop a relationship with the team from League Two.

Although it’s a significant drop for a manager who led his team to the League One play-offs the previous season, it demonstrates his drive to be a successful manager.

The supporters of Sheffield Wednesday, who will play Swansea City in the Championship later this month, will undoubtedly wish him luck and hope that Danny Rohl can prevent their team from relegation this season.
