Huddersfield Town have let the stopper leave on a temporary basis to the National League.
The 23-year-old Chapman recently fully recovered from an ankle injury.
He will play the remainder of this season at Spotland, the Terriers have confirmed.
With his move to Rochdale, Chapman will have the opportunity to gain some consistent playing time.
At the end of the current season, his contract at John Smith’s Stadium expires, and in late June, he is expected to become a free agent.
The Terriers must make a significant choice regarding his future. His final contract was signed in 2021 with the Championship team.
After joining his present team in 2019, Chapman has participated in two senior team games, both of which occurred this season.
The Australian spent time playing with Sydney United 58 and Marconi Stallions before relocating to England.
After a trial period, Huddersfield signed him, and he has since advanced through their academy divisions.
Chapman has previously gone on loan to Ossett United, Gateshead, and Salford City in order to gain some experience.
Following Chris Maxwell’s injury, he made his debut in a league match against Blackburn Rovers in December of last year.
A Terriers team fighting for their lives is momentarily left behind by the stopper. Following the international break, they return to action at home against Coventry City, who are vying for a playoff spot.
