With the most goals and assists of any player in the team this season, Sorba Thomas has been a standout player for Huddersfield.

In what has otherwise been an extremely challenging season, the 24-year-old has been crucial to the team’s ability to finish outside of the bottom three.

The Welshman, who has a contract with the Terriers through the summer of 2026, has received praise for his efforts for the Championship team.

Therefore, even though there isn’t a pressing need to sell this summer, he can still decide to leave the Yorkshire side.

This season, it was previously rumoured that Wales international Wrexham is interested in playing for them in League Two.

In an attempt to move up the English football pyramid, the fourth-tier team has been making investments to strengthen their roster. They hope to make it from the National League to League One this season by earning back-to-back promotions.

Maybe they’ll try to recruit Thomas from the Championship if they secure the promotion.

It would be an indication of their aspirations, and the offer might be compelling enough to persuade the forward to change positions.

With his performances this season, it wouldn’t be shocking if other clubs expressed interest in him as well. It’s definitely one to watch throughout the summer.

Yuta Nakayama

When Nakayama joined Huddersfield in the summer of 2022, there was hope that he would make a significant contribution.

But the Japanese international’s debut season in English football didn’t go as planned; he only made 14 appearances for the Terriers because of serious injury problems (all stats from Fbref).

Although things have gone better in his second season, his Huddersfield contract is about to expire at the end of the current campaign.

Since there is no mechanism to start an automatic 12-month extension, he might leave the team this summer without getting paid.

This season, the 27-year-old has started frequently for the team and has shown himself to be a versatile player by playing both left and centre back.

However, if a new contract cannot be agreed upon before the summer, he may not be with the team in the future.
