The ‘Terrace Talk’ series from Football League World features the views of our FLW Fan Pundits on a variety of topics, including teams, players, managers, potential signings, breaking news, and more.

Hull City will have to wait anxiously to find out if they can salvage a championship season and place among the top six on the last day.

This weekend, Liam Rosenior’s team travels to Plymouth Argyle knowing that a win is essential to catch up to two-point leaders West Bromwich Albion. They are also hoping that Preston North End will lend a supporting hand.

If their season ends after 46 games, however, preparations will be made swiftly to make sure they are contending at the top of the table the following season, and Humberside may have a busy summer transfer window.

Marc Leonard transfer latest

Marc Leonard, a midfielder for Brighton & Hove Albion, has already been connected to a summer transfer to the Tigers.

The 22-year-old recently finished his second consecutive loan stint at Northampton Town. In his 98 appearances at Sixfields Stadium, he has six goals and seven assists.

However, Leonard has had one of his most productive seasons to date this year. In the most recent League One season, he contributed to 11 of the Cobblers’ 13 goals, and his performances in the summer impressed potential suitors.

Now that he’s back at Amex Stadium, he can see Roberto De Zerbi again. However, it doesn’t seem likely that the midfield player will be able to establish himself in the starting lineup because the Seagulls will probably make some moves in the upcoming transfer window that will push Leonard further down the ladder.

The 22-year-old is reportedly attracting interest from teams, including the Tigers, though they may face competition for his services.

In addition to Liam Rosenior’s team, other teams linked to the young player include Cardiff City, Preston, and Plymouth. According to Football Insider, Sheffield United, who were demoted from the Premier League last week, are also reportedly interested.

With just one year remaining on his current contract with the Seagulls, Leonard is reportedly available for around £300,000. It’s also said that Brighton won’t stand in the way of anyone trying to sign him.

Hull City fan pundit gives Marc Leonard verdict ahead of potential transfer

The Tigers are expected to be linked to a number of players, even though the rumour mill has only recently started to spin in the summer. Decisions regarding the six players who have expiring contracts in the summer still need to be made.

And when Ant Northgraves, a Hull supporter for Football League World, was questioned about Leonard’s possible arrival, he outlined the benefits it would have for their team.

Even though he doesn’t know much about the 22-year-old, Northgraves continued, “I have complete faith in Rosenior to get the transfers right in the summer.”

Since I haven’t had a lot of opportunity to watch Marc Leonard, I can’t speak to what I would anticipate from If we were to sign him, that is.

However, Rosenior and the scouting team must find something in him that would work with the system we are attempting to implement if we are interested in him.

“At 22, he is still relatively young, so we should be able to get a good few years out of him and possibly turn a profit later on. For a young midfielder, five goals and six assists in League One is a respectable return, indicating that the potential is there.

I generally support Rosenior and his actions because he has very rarely made a mistake in a transfer, and if he fits the system and is reasonably priced—£300,000, for example—that’s a respectable amount of money, especially for a Championship club these days, and it should be an easy transaction to complete.

“If someone like him could enter at a low cost, I’d be happy. I predict that next season, we won’t have as many midfield players because players like Tyler Morton and Fabio Carvalho will be returning.

“I believe Adama Traore will be released. Greg Docherty is not quite up to the level we need him to be at this particular moment or where we want him to be.

“I think as long as we are investing in players that have got potential and a big sell-on value, I am all for it.”
