Lewis Latona, a young player for Hamilton Academical, is being examined by Hull City during his trial, according to a Daily Record report.
Hull City is keeping an eye on the midfielder in preparation for a possible summer raid as they try to strengthen their youth ranks. Now that they are not in the playoffs, Liam Rosenior’s team has a hectic few months ahead of them.

The 17-year-old Latona has spent the last ten days with the Championship team, and the Tigers must decide whether to make him an offer to entice him across the border. His future is still uncertain at this point.

His current club, who finished second in the regular season behind runaway winners Falkirk, will not field him in their upcoming Scottish League One play-off matches against Alloa Athletic, according to the Daily Record. The club wants to return to the second division.

Hull City eye trialist

Latona might be seen by Hull City as a valuable long-term addition, and if they were to sign him, he would probably start out with their development squad in order to eventually make his way into the first team.

The teenager has progressed through the academy’s ranks while being registered at Hamilton Academical for his entire career.

He has been a consistent player for the Accies at several different youth levels in recent years, and this season he has made just one appearance for the first team. The Tigers’ interest will make it difficult for John Rankin’s team to hold onto him at this point.

After the season, Hull City has not yet released their retained list. After losing 1-0 on the road at Plymouth Argyle on the last day of the season, they ultimately finished seventh, three points outside of the top six as West Brom and Norwich City passed them.

At MKM Stadium, the upcoming summer will be one of transition as several players, including Adama Traore, Greg Docherty, Aaron Connolly, Billy Sharp, and loanees like Liam Delap, Ryan Giles, Fabio Carvalho, Tyler Morton, and Noah Ohio, are scheduled to return to their parent clubs.

New face incoming at Hull City?

At the MKM Stadium, there will be both arrivals and departures, and Latona is one player who could walk through the front doors if Hull City chooses to extend an offer to him.

He recently had a trial period to demonstrate his abilities, and moving to England would be a huge help to his career as he attempts to carve out a future for himself.
