Adrian Lam, the head coach of Leigh Leopards, has officially signed a new three-year deal with the organisation, ending rumours that he might take over as Hull FC’s head coach. Lam, who had an expiring contract at the end of the season, has signed a long-term contract with the team that will keep him committed through the end of the 2027 campaign.

With the Leopards, Lam has had tremendous success. He led the team back to Super League in his first season as manager and lifted the Challenge Cup Final last year, which was the first time the team had done so in more than 50 years.

Two-time Super League Coach of the Year Lam had been connected to the open position at the MKM Stadium; Richie Myler, director of rugby at Hull FC, confirmed that a conversation had taken place. But he’s going to be lodging at Leigh Sports Village.

“I’m thrilled to have Adrian lead the team and be able to retain his services in the future. He has performed admirably for the team and gone above and beyond what was expected of him at this point in our strategy.

“Jukesy (CEO Neil Jukes) and Chezy (Head of Rugby Chris Chester) are a terrific combination that I want to keep intact. We have a great relationship with them.

“Adrian has proven how good he is, how he believes in his processes and trusts his instincts, despite our challenging start to the season.” Due to player injuries, which are a part of the game, he has had to adjust important plays and positions on a regular basis.

“We have fought in spite of this, and as he told me, we will learn how to win important games in this manner. When we bring everyone back, we will be even more superior as a result.”

Adrian Lam declared, “This extension demonstrates that I’m as committed to this club now as I was in game one of the Championship. I promised you a five-year plan.” I’ve had an incredible adventure with these youngsters.

Being our club’s representative is an enormous privilege. I knew this club didn’t belong in the Championship when I first arrived and that it was a sleeping giant. It was amazing to return to Super League and to bring the Challenge Cup back to Leigh for the first time in more than 50 years.

However, that wasn’t the end point; it was just a portion of the trip. Because of our amazing fans, there is so much more I want to do for this team. This season has started out rough for us, with ups and downs and players missing games due to injuries, but one thing has been constant: you, the supporters.

You are the lifeblood of our club, and I care about each and every one of you, so you’ll never know how much your support means to me—words can never express how much I appreciate it.

“I know there has been a lot of discussion about my future in the past few weeks, but it was just background chatter. I am so appreciative that Derek, Neil, and Chezy want to travel with me because Leigh has become my home and the Leythers my people. I’m grateful.
