Hull FC are looking to strike a key balance to their 2025 squad.
Speaking on House of League, the official podcast of Rugby League Live, Harrison said: “Some of those new recruits, I think they’ll do a good job. Zak can do a good job in any standard of football. For all the rock and roll off the pitch, he delivers. He always has done and he always will do. Even when his legs slow down, his heart will always deliver. Zak’s got something burning inside of him, and it’s called being a competitor.
“I do agree with recruiting that way, as they did with Tom Briscoe this year. They said they’re bringing them in short term, for two years, so they can help develop the young lads. That’s something I like to hear. But do I fully believe it? No. Not yet. They’ve got to prove it.
Hull may have eight or nine local boys playing in the next two years if Richie Myler and Adam Pearson can show the public that they brought these guys in to help those young guys grow. That, together with your Rapanas and the superstars you bring in, has to be every fan’s fantasy. But please, do not halt their progress.”
Harrison believes that Hull’s youthful appeal is a huge hit, since they have witnessed players like Lewis Martin and Harvey Barron succeed despite difficult seasons. The agency doesn’t want to see that attractiveness diminished, claiming that the team has added fresh players to “keep fans happy.”
He went on: “Three months ago, I was asked which Hull club I would acquire. Four years ago, I said Hull KR, but now I’d say I’d purchase Hull. I was astounded to see how young their children were. Before they invested between 600,000 and a million pounds on the cap. That is prior to any of them committing. I told them to look at Hull; Logan Moy, Jack Charles, Davy Litten, Harvey Barron, and Lewis Martin are all amazing. There are eight or nine under-21 players on the team. That sounds delicious.
“They then took the opposite stance, saying that by spending money on the cap, we can keep the supporters away from us. They have been forced to play the youth this year due to injuries. Had I kept to that. When he returns from injury next year, Davy Litten is going to be an incredible centre because they have such a strong culture. They might possess something truly unique.”
