Jon Wilkin believes Jordan Rapana is ‘just the sort of player’ that Hull FC need, with the Sky Sports pundit predicting that more ‘bits of news’ could be coming out of the club in the coming weeks. The New Zealander has signed a two-year contract with the Black and Whites and is their ninth signing for 2025, with two more players in Aiden Sezer and Cade Cust still to be confirmed.

Wilkin, meanwhile, has labelled Rapana as ‘genuine quality’ with the signing ‘needed’ as Hull look to hit back with a better campaign following a torrid 2024 season. Joining the likes of John Asiata, the former Canberra Raiders full-back or winger is expected to add unapparelled leadership qualities to the squad, with Wilkin saying the signing is proof that the club are looking to improve.

However, in the pundits view, more is still needed, with Hull Live previously reporting that more domestic additions could be made between now and the 2025 season, with the likes of Richie Myler exploring every avenue to better the roster ahead of John Cartwright’s first year in charge.

Speaking on the Rapana signing, Wilkin said: “It’s a genuine quality recruit for Hull FC. It’s just the sort of player they need. He competes so hard, and he’s been at the top of his game for such a long time. It’s a really shrewd piece of work in the transfer market.
