According to Hull FC’s acting head coach Simon Grix, Cam Scott, who is bound for Wakefield Trinity, has suffered an injury to the point where it’s likely that this is his final game for the team.

Ahead of their anticipated return to the league, Wakefield Trinity announced last week that they have signed the center/second-rower for the 2025 season, making him their fourth Super League acquisition.

Along with playmaker Olly Russell of the Huddersfield Giants and Catalans and England’s Tom Johnstone and Mike McMeeken, Scott will join the team on a two-year contract, while the other three will sign four-year contracts.

Simon Grix has now claimed that Scott may have played his final game for Hull FC because it is unlikely that the 24-year-old would make a full recovery from his hamstring injury in the final three months of the campaign.

The club’s acting coach disclosed that to BBC Humberside when he gave a preview of this weekend’s match between Hull FC and Salford Red Devils.

The Hull FC manager, Grix, said to BBC Humberside in reference to Scott: “Cam has a significant hamstring tear and it’s going to be the long end of the scale in terms of recovery.”

“Unfortunately, as we’re all aware now, Cam’s moving on at the end of the year, it could be a bit of a shame of a way for him to have finished his full FC career, unfortunately. “We’ll get around him and he’ll do his rehab and if there’s a chance of playing then it would be great to have him back towards the end of the year there but with three months we’ve got left I think he’ll be pushing it.” Asked if the expectation was that Scott had played his last game for the club, Grix confirmed: “Potentially, yeah.” Scott had recently hit out at fans on social media who had speculated on his wages at Wakefield Trinity with he 24-year-old defending his decision.

Jed Cartwright, one of Hull FC’s own recruits, suffered a foot injury during the Reserves’ 60-4 thrashing of Leigh Leopards last weekend. Grix stated: “Jed stuck around and trained with reserves which was good. He showed that willing to get in there and do his bit. He felt, and we felt, that he was doing good to get some minutes with reserves and unfortunately felt a bit of a pop in his foot. That was after about 30 minutes of the game, he was doing decently in the game to be fair, getting some cobwebs off I think. So, we’ll be without him for a few weeks at this time.
