Hull FC have made contact with Jordan Abdull’s representatives and are keen to bring him back to the club for the 2025 season and beyond. The 28-year-old, who debuted with the Black and Whites back in 2014, is currently on a season-long loan at Catalans Dragons from Hull KR, with the French club holding the option to sign the half-back permanently.

However, Hull Live understands that Abdull is interested in a move back to Hull FC, with the club launching talks to get the kicking supremo back in Black and White. The club is thought to be confident in finalising a deal, but there are a few logistics to finalise before they can close it out.

The biggest logistic is Catalans’ option to extend Abdull’s time in Perpignan. They have a deadline for when they can activate that option, but naturally, they won’t want to exercise it for a player who could well prioritise a move back to the UK. The French outfit are still to have those conversations with the player, with the deadline to utilise that option understood to be in July.

Although Abdull’s contract with his parent team, Hull KR, expires in 2026, the East Hull organisation has given Hull FC permission to speak with the player and has promised not to obstruct a transfer should the two parties decide to go that route. As for Jake Trueman, who will play into the final season of his first three-year contract with the team, the Black and Whites think Abdull is the ideal kicking and organising half-back to partner with him.

Additionally, Jack Charles, the club’s emerging prospect who made his debut in March and has already made eight senior appearances this season, has been chosen as the right mentor for Abdull. Abdull is thought to be able to assist in bringing on the teenager, who is widely considered as the

2014 saw Abdull make his senior Hull debut against Wakefield Trinity after rising through the Black and Whites’ system. He added to his tally of 54 appearances for the team in the 2015, 2016 and 2018 seasons.

Throughout his career, Abdull has also spent two stints at Hull KR. He made his debut there in 2017 while on loan from Hull. Before joining the Robins in 2020 and playing 78 games there before heading to the South of France ahead of the 2024 season, he played a season with the London Broncos in 2019. The half-back has played in 178 games for England in his career. He also made his debut for the national team against France in 2021.

Other than that, clubs can now formally speak with any players who are not under contract because the May 1 anti-tampering deadline was passed. Oliver Holmes and Zak Hardaker of the Leigh Leopards are reportedly signed by Hull, as reported by Hull Live. Earlier this week, a contract for John Asiata was also confirmed.
