Chan is a new signing at the DW Stadium after arriving from Catalans Dragons and has found first-team playing opportunities limited so far this season, making just two appearances. But he will now benefit from a spell at the MKM Stadium, with Hull moving quickly to replace Ed Chamberlain, who has been recalled by his parent club, Leigh Leopards.
Hull FC have completed a short-term loan deal for Wigan Warriors forward
In theory, Chan is limited to participating in only one club match. The Black and Whites’ lone match of the first two weeks is against the Broncos; the Challenge Cup semifinals will take place the following week, therefore there won’t be any games for them. He will, nevertheless, provide Grix with a much-needed back-row option.
Following his weekend performance for the club’s reserves, Chan may be heading out on loan, according to Wigan manager Matt Peet’s admission last week. They trounced the reserves of Hull KR 44-0, with him scoring.
Peet stated in an interview with Wigan Today: “You want to have cover across a range of positions in that 18, 19, 20, and 21 members of the squad.”
For instance, Zach Eckersley covers the back line this week, Harvie Hill covers the front row, Sam Walters covers the back row and Ryan Hampshire covers the spine positions.
There is rivalry even for those cover posts. I believe Tiaki is aware of that. He will play over the weekend for the reserves, and coming forward, it may be that he spends a few weeks away on loan to gain the experience he needs and regain his place in the starting lineup.
It all comes down to trying to become better every week as a player and being as prepared as possible. To demonstrate that you’re prepared for a chance to play for the first team when it comes, if you’re going to advance by playing reserve grade or on loan
