Here we take a look at five Ipswich Town players who are likely to leave this summer having already played their last game for the club.
The 37-year-old took over an Ipswich team that, in spite of spending more than their League One opponents, was having trouble making a run at the championship.
McKenna guided Ipswich back to the second division in his first full season, coming in second behind Plymouth Argyle.
Reentering the Championship and competing for consecutive promotions amongst teams that were connected from the Premier League the previous season has been incredible.
We’re going to be focusing on outgoings today, but incomings are also expected to be busy at Portman Road this summer.
In anticipation of their possible departure this summer, we look at five Ipswich players who have probably played their last game for the Suffolk side.
Ipswich will probably see Sone Aluko’s three-year tenure come to an end this summer.
After four awful years with Reading, he returned in the summer of 2021. Although he hasn’t shown much of an impact under McKenna, the former Premier League winger has given the team valuable experience.
The Nigerian is obviously surplus to requirements, having seen his playing time restricted to cup events.
Although Kayden Jackson has been a valuable asset for Town, his contract is up this summer, and it seems like the proper moment for him to go on.
This season, he has played a supporting role, and if he decides to remain longer, there won’t be many possibilities for him because players like George Hirst and Ali Al-Hamadi are ahead of him.
Jackson, who cost £1 million to acquire from Accrington Stanley in 2018, has played in almost 200 games throughout his six-year tenure, establishing himself as a formidable opponent for defenders.
Although Panutche Camara arrived at Portman Road in the summer of 2022, his two years there have been severely disrupted by injuries.
The defensive midfielder, who came from Plymouth, made just four appearances in all competitions the previous year before being sent on loan to Charlton Athletic for the current campaign.
For Camara, though, the tale has been similar this season as her contribution at The Valley has been limited because of an injury. A player who just made one league appearance for them is set to leave as his contract is up in the summer.
Similar to Camara, Dominic Ball is a defensive midfielder who was signed by the team two years ago, although his tenure there has been hampered by injury.
He had a meniscus tear in November 2022, which prevented him from playing for most of the previous season. This season, he has made a few appearances in the Championship, but most of them have been as a substitute.
Now that Ball’s contract is up, it appears like he will be moving on.
Although Janoi Donacien, a Saint Lucia international, is another player without a contract and it appears that his time is running out, he has been an excellent employee.
After coming to the team on loan from Accrington in 2019, he made the permanent switch and went on to make over 100 appearances, contributing to the team’s promotion the previous season.
