POLICE looking into the death of a newborn at a Coventry home after the animal bit it say they are confident no crimes have been committed.
A little after 3:30 pm on Sunday, police and paramedics were summoned to a property on Shorncliffe Road. They arrived in a matter of minutes.
The family dog bit Elle Doherty, a seven-month-old baby, inside the house, causing severe injuries to her skull.
Before being taken to the hospital for additional care, paramedics treated Elle on the spot. She tragically passed away soon after.
According to the police, their sympathies are still with her family during this terrible moment.
The Belgian Malinois-registered pet dog was taken from the house on Sunday and destroyed.
Elle’s family has been updated by the officers, and a file is currently being prepared for the coroner.
