Driving the incorrect way down a motorway resulted in the death of the motorist in a terrifying collision.

Witnesses to the deadly incident between an Audi and an Amazon delivery truck that occurred on the M62 early on Saturday are being sought after by the police.

Around 3:30 in the morning, paramedics were dispatched to the scene on the eastbound carriageway near Junction 29 for Lofthouse.

Tragically, the Audi’s male driver was pronounced dead at the site not long after.

Photographs taken at the scene depict detectives investigating a white Audi that seemed to have been completely smashed in a head-on collision.

“The collision involved a white Audi A3 travelling against the flow of traffic and a Renault HGV,” a spokesman for West Yorkshire Police stated.

A short while later, the male occupant of the Audi was pronounced deceased at the site.

“A road closure is in effect while collision investigators determine the precise cause of the collision.

“Major Collision Enquiry Team officers are eager to speak with anyone who may have observed the Audi’s driving style before the collision.”

It is anticipated that the route will stay closed until the afternoon.

It happened after an £80,000 electric Jaguar driver expressed his fear to police after the high-end vehicle’s brakes failed, forcing them to push him off the road.

Nathan Owen was stranded inside the speeding Jaguar I-Pace due to a “electrical fault” as it raced along the congested M62 without using its brakes.

After using specialised pursuit techniques to slam the rogue car, police were able to bring it to a safe stop on Wednesday.
West Yorkshire Police is asking anyone with information about the collision on Saturday, the events leading up to it, or any video footage they may have to contact them by phone at 101 or online at
