Body found in woods in search for Scots mum who vanished from Kilmarnock

Anne MacDonald, 55, was last seen at from Woodland View Hospital in Irvine on Monday.

While looking for a missing mother who disappeared from an Ayrshire psychiatric care facility, a body was discovered in a forested location.

On Monday, June 3, Anne MacDonald, 55, was last seen at Irvine’s Woodland View Hospital. Officers requested the public’s assistance in locating Anne as they began a frenzied search.

Sadly, officers have now confirmed that a body was found in woodland near the Eglington Interchange in the town at around 11am on Saturday.

Although formal identification has not yet occurred, Anne’s devastated family has been notified. Regarding the deceased, there don’t seem to be any suspicious circumstances.

A representative for Police Scotland stated: “On Saturday, June 8, 2024, at approximately 11 a.m., a woman’s body was discovered in forest close to the Eglington Interchange in Irvine.

“Although formal identification has not yet occurred, Anne MacDonald’s family has been notified; she was reported missing from Irvine.

“There is not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in due course.”
