Police are trying to establish how the incident happened, after the man was found lying injured at the roadside in Kilmarnock
After being brought to Crosshouse Hospital, he passed away later that day.
Anyone who was in the vicinity at the time is asked to contact the police, who stated they got a complaint of the incident on Monday.
“We are working to gather information that will assist us in establishing the circumstances,” stated Irvine Road Policing Unit Sgt. Brian Simpson.
“I would urge anyone who was in the area of Milton Drive on Friday morning to please contact us as soon as possible.”
